Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia

About Us

Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia (DAAV) is the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders caucus of the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA).  We are proud of the diversity of the AAPI community in Virginia. Our impact on the community is unmatched!

Our Mission

DAAV's mission is to promote the interests of  Asian Americans in support of the Democratic Party. Our activities include voter registration, education, outreach, recruitment of members of local Democratic Committees and endorsement of candidates for political office.

We educate Virginians on the importance of getting involved in the political process at every level. We provide education on topics of interest to AAPI communities. We also provide voter registration and  election information.

DAAV team works to make a difference in the civic life of one's community and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values and motivation to make that difference. We participate in festivals to educate our community members.

GOTV: Get-Out-the-Vote is one of our crucial missions in mobilizing the community to vote. We work by canvassing and phone banking for many of our VA candidates.

What the Media Say

"Doing some of the basic political outreach that for too long has skipped over Asian Americans (Last year, for example, DAAV threw a celebration Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, for now-Gov. Ralph Northam to lead."
